The Navy Identified Two Crew Members Who Died In A Fighter Jet Crash

An aerial crew located the wreckage the day after the crash at about 6,000 feet in a remote, heavily wooded, steep area.

The Navy has identified the two crew members who died in a jet fighter crash last week.

Lt. Cmdr. Lyndsay P. Evans and Lt. Serena N. Wileman died last Tuesday during a training flight. Their EA-18G Growler aircraft from the Electronic Attack Squadron, known as “Zappers,” crashed east of Mount Rainier.

An aerial crew located the wreckage the day after the crash at about 6,000 feet in a remote, heavily wooded, steep area. Navy officials declared the two 31-year-old aviators dead on Sunday.

Personnel are now recovering debris and planning for the long-term salvage and recovery effort. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
