Do You Have Email Apnea?
If you’ve ever caught yourself holding your breath while checking emails, you might be experiencing something called “email apnea.”
A new study found that 80% of people hold their breath, breathe shallowly, or change their breathing patterns when reading stressful emails, texts or even going on social media. It’s developed when people need to keep their body steady when focusing on a task. And while it might not seem like a big deal, it can lead to carbon dioxide build up and increased stress which could later contribute to health issues. Experts say you can prevent this from happening by regularly checking your breathing, practicing longer exhales and maintaining good posture.
