Parts of North Carolina are experiencing historic flooding as rain continues to drench the state.
The coastal region saw historic rainfall Monday. Some areas received over 18-inches in just 12-hours and it’s being called “a once-in-a-thousand-year event.”
Carolina Beach and Kure Beach were hit the hardest. In Carolina Beach, residents were trapped due to rising water levels, vehicles were stranded. A flash flood warning was in effect until late Monday night. People were urged to stay inside as winds reached up to 77-miles-per-hour.
No deaths or injuries have been reported at this time as the low-pressure area is expected to dissipate over the Carolinas.
