Dogs Can Remember the Names of Toys Years After Not Seeing Them

It turns out dogs might have better memories than their owners when it comes to toys.

According to a new study, dogs can recall the name of a toy even after not playing with it for up to two years. This was tested by asking dogs to fetch specific toys from a lineup that included decoys. Research showed that they could do this because they store the names of objects in their long-term memory. The test was more successful with dogs that had hands-on owners, proving that the more you invest in your dog, the more you’ll get back from the relationship.
