HCPD Warned Community Of “Significant Noise” During Disposal Of Bomb

A call reported concerns of an old military item that was purchased at a garage sale.

If you heard an odd sound yesterday in Horry County … there’s an explanation for that.

Around 7am community members near Highway 90 and International Drive were warned they might hear a “significant noise.” Several agencies were preparing to dispose of an explosive device.

The disposal happened within that hour.

The device was reported the night before after Myrtle Beach police officers responded to a home on Rock Dove Road around 8:30pm. A call reported concerns of an old military item that was purchased at a garage sale.

The device was seized and relocated before being safely disposed of.
