National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Hosting ‘Constitution Day’
Sept. 17th, 2024 from 1:30pm to 4:30pm at Brookgreen Gardens.
The fun will begin at 1:30 P.M., with a gathering and welcome at the Noble Gallery, where there will be Low Country food tastings. Following the tastings, which will feature violin melodies, a march involving everyone, led by drum and fife through the flag-lined Oak Allee’ will end at the Garden’s Constitution Oak.
There, an original play will be debuted starring George Washington, Lord Cornwallis, General Frances Marion and his men, Sgt. Jasper, Captain Allston and others who will bring historical events to life. The play will be followed by cake and lemonade and all participants can become a part of the Ringing of the Bells Across America Ceremony at 4:00 PM!
Brookgreen Gardens, 1931 Brookgreen Drive in Murrells Inlet. It is one of the largest outdoor sculpture gardens in the nation and traces its origin to the pre-Revolutionary era, a fact upon which our celebration will focus.
Attendance is free for Brookgreen members and children under 3. The cost of non-member admission is $12 for children 4-12, $22 for ages 13 to 64, and $20 for adults over 65.
