Dangerous Snakes Among Those Euthanized After Man Was Bitten
The Island Taipan was the snake that bit the victim that local hospitals did not have anti-venom for.
Some of the world’s most dangerous snakes were removed from an apartment in Florence.
On Friday, a man was bitten by one of his own snakes. A search warrant was conducted on the house which led to animal control seizing 14 snakes.
The following snakes were found.
- One Green Mamba
- Two Gaboon Vipers
- One Fer-de-Lance
- One Death Adder
- One Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake
- Two Black Forest Cobras
- Two Adult Rattlesnakes
- One Island Taipan
- Two Neotropical Rattlesnakes
- One Small Rattlesnake
The Island Taipan was the snake that bit the victim that local hospitals did not have anti-venom for. Medical officials had to get it from an out-of-state medical facility.
Police said they tried to have the snakes collected by several professional facilities so they could be studied. However, it was determined the current habitats for these snakes were unsuitable and unsafe.
Authorities were forced to humanely euthanize all of the snakes.
