14-Year-Old Georgia School Shooter And Father Appear In Court
Because the suspect is a juvenile, the maximum penalty he could face is life without parole.
The 14-year-old suspect in a shooting at a Georgia high school was in court Friday morning.
Colt Gray opened fire with a semi-automatic assault-style rifle at Apalachee High School in Winder on Wednesday.
The incident resulted in the death of four people including two teachers and two other 14-year-old students. Nine others were injured.
At Gray’s hearing, the teen was advised of his rights along with the charges and penalties he faces. Afterward, he was escorted out in shackles on his wrists and ankles. Because he is a juvenile, the maximum penalty he could face is life without parole. The judge set another hearing for December 4.
Shortly after Gray’s hearing, his father, Colin Gray was brought into court. The 54-year-old was charged in connection with the shooting alleging he was responsible for his son’s access to the firearm used in the incident. His charges include several counts of involuntary manslaughter and second-degree murder. He could face up to 180 years in prison if convicted.
