First Defendant To Breach U.S. Capitol Building Sentenced

The first defendant to breach the U.S. Capitol building on January 6 has been sentenced.

Michael Sparks was arrested in January of 2021. He was convicted by a jury in March of felony obstruction of an official proceeding and civil disorder and misdemeanors.

The breach occurred during the transfer of power after President Biden was elected.

Sparks has now been sentenced to 53 months in prison.
