NASA Decides On Plan To Return Two Astronauts To Earth

After nearly three months, NASA has decided to partner up with rival SpaceX to get the two home.

NASA has announced plans to get two astronauts back to Earth.

Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams boarded Boeing’s Starliner capsule with intentions of participating in a week long test flight. However, the seasoned pilots have been stuck at the International Space Station since the beginning of June. It was said the capsule experienced failures and helium leaks.

After nearly three months, NASA has decided to partner up with rival SpaceX to get the two home. A SpaceX capsule is now scheduled to rescue Wilmore and Williams.

The vehicle is currently reserved for four residents who have been at the space station since March who are set to return in September. However, it would be unsafe to squeeze two more on that flight. Therefor, Williams and Wilmore will need to wait for the next flight in February.

SpaceX has not given any consideration for a quick stand alone rescue.
