Judge Temporarily Blocks Launch Of New Sports Streaming Platform

Fubo filed a lawsuit two weeks after the companies announced their plan to offer a sports streaming service on February 6.

A federal judge has now blocked the launch of a new sports streaming service.

‘Venu Sports’ by ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery, will not be allowed to make its debut at this time after a judge granted ‘FuboTV’s’ motion for a preliminary injunction against the platform.

Fubo filed a lawsuit two weeks after the companies announced their plan to offer a sports streaming service on February 6.

The judge has now halted it’s launch arguing that Fubo was likely to be successful in proving that the joint venture would violate antitrust laws, and Fubo and consumers would “face irreparable harm in the absence of an injunction.”

ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. have said they plan to appeal the ruling. If allowed to launch, the platform would offer 14 linear networks for $42.99 per month.
