Construction Begins For New Ocean Outfall In Myrtle Beach Area
This ocean outfall will replace 11 storm-water pipes that are currently on the beach.
Construction of a new ocean outfall began Monday in Myrtle Beach.
Crews will first begin building a trestle that is expected to extend 1,500 feet out to sea.
It was said ocean outfalls and stormwater pipes are important because they “filter sediment, improve water quality and catch trash before runoff water reaches the ocean.”
This ocean outfall will replace 11 storm-water pipes that are currently on the beach.
It will be built at 24th Avenue North.
Construction will take place from 7am-5:30pm Monday-Saturday.
The project is set to be completed by early 2026.
