Marion Man Will Not Face Death Penalty In Death Of New Mexico Officer

Jaremy Smith is accused of shooting and killing New Mexico Police Officer Justin Hare along Interstate-40 in March.

We now have an update on a Marion man accused of killing two people.

Jaremy Smith is accused of shooting and killing New Mexico Police Officer Justin Hare along Interstate-40 in March.

Hare pulled over to help Smith who was stranded when Smith shot him.

The same day, law enforcement launched a manhunt for the suspect and he was arrested two days later.

It was said Smith will not face the death penalty for several charges he faces.

The suspect is also a person of interest in the murder of S.C. Paramedic Phonesia Machado-Fore, who was also shot and killed.

Smith was allegedly driving her vehicle when Hare attempted to help him.
