It’s Not Enough to Just Wash Fruits and Veggies Anymore

A study found pesticides can penetrate the peel and pulp layer of produce.

If you’re worried about pesticides from the produce aisle…we’ve got bad news…it might take more than a rinse to clean your fruits and veggies.

A study published in an American Chemical Society Journal shows pesticides are likely to remain on fruits and vegetables even after being washed with water. The study found pesticides can penetrate the peel and pulp layer of produce. But, researchers say simply peeling the items may reduce the ingestion. Researchers also hope the new findings will provide more information on the effects of pesticide residue on produce.
