Family Of Titan Submarine Victim Files Lawsuit Against Oceangate

Five people were traveling in the submersible to see the wreck of the Titanic when an implosion occurred.

The family of a victim who died while aboard the Titan submarine has now filed a lawsuit against Oceangate.

Five people were traveling in the submersible to see the wreck of the Titanic when an implosion occurred. 77-year-old Paul-Henri Nargeolet was one of the deceased passengers. His relatives are now demanding $50 million in compensation.

A lawyer for the family said through the lawsuit, they hope to get answers as to how the incident happened and how those involved could have allowed it to occur in the first place. The lawsuit further alleges that the passengers most likely experienced “terror and mental anguish,” as warning systems likely meant the crew were “well aware they were going to die, before dying.”

Oceangate has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
