A new child care program for military families has been launched in South Carolina.

The S.C Department of Social Services announced the “Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood-Plus Plan” Thursday.

The program aims to assist military families in providing affordable, accessible child care in their communities.

The plan will be available to eligible military and Department of Defense civilian families when child care is not available and to those who do not live near an installation.

There are nearly 33,700 active-duty service members and over 24,400 National Guard and reserve members who serve in S.C..
