A North Carolina man has been arrested and charged in connection to a sexual assault incident in North Myrtle Beach.

49-year-old Douglas Steadman Jr. is accused of forcing a woman to commit sexual acts three times during a span of around 25 minutes.

The incident took place at the Sky Bar along Main Street.

Officers responded around 11:30pm and witnessed a crowd protecting the woman who was wrapped in a towel. She was missing several personal items, including clothing, shoes, a phone, debit card and driver’s license.

The victim was taken to a hospital where she informed authorities that she was alone when a stranger approached her on the dance floor and told her she was being kicked out of the bar for being too drunk. He then allegedly took her down stairs and assaulted her several times.

Investigators were able to identify Steadman through surveillance video. He was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and is being held without bond.
