Family Of Young Girl Suing HCS And Bus Driver After Incident

The girl was not injured but allegedly suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result and is undergoing therapy.

Horry County Schools and a former bus driver are being sued.

In August 2023, Pee Dee Elementary student Alliza Floyd refused to get off the bus at her stop. The 8-year-old was reportedly scared of dogs that were outside.

After over a minute of telling her to get off, driver, Thomas Interlandi allegedly closed the door on her arm and drove in reverse for 30 seconds with her arm hanging outside the vehicle. He was initially arrested and charged with unlawful conduct toward a child, but the case was dismissed. However, he was terminated from his position.

Now, the girl’s family is suing the district and Interlandi on grounds of negligence, negligent supervision, loss of personal services, violation of Alliza’s 4th Amendment protections and violation of federal due process.
