Suspect Identified After Barricade Incident Leads To Fatal Officer Involved Shooting

It was said Barry was recently released from prison which could have been what prompted him to barricade himself and his mother inside the home.

We now know the identity of the suspect who died after barricading himself in an apartment on Monday.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, 34-year-old Idris Cooper was found shot to death in a Florence parking lot.

An investigation led to a warrant for the arrest of 41-year-old Matthew Barry.

It was said Barry was recently released from prison which could have been what prompted him to barricade himself and his mother inside the home. His mom was able to escape after authorities used tear gas.

Barry reportedly emerged behind her and opened fire on the officers. He was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is underway.
