Man Dies After Barricading Himself Amid Homicide Investigation

Several agencies responded to an apartment complex on Brittany Drive off West Palmetto Street in Florence Monday night.

We now know the identity of the man found deceased in a Florence parking lot on Sunday.

Around 1am, 34-year-old Idris Cooper was found in the Colonial Gardens Apartments parking lot. He was located near a running car and suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS attempted to apply aid but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation led police to identify the suspect from the incident and obtain an arrest and search warrant. Several agencies responded to an apartment complex on Brittany Drive off West Palmetto Street in Florence Monday night.

The suspect barricaded himself inside and fired shots at officers. The man was killed in the incident.
