Email Regarding Social Security Changes Is NOT a Scam

Those recipients had logins with "my Social Security" and must transition to updated credentials with "Login.gov."

Social Security recipients are often targets of scams. However, a recent email sent to a large group of beneficiaries is legit.

The email was sent to customers who created online accounts before September 18, 2021. It notifies users of important changes to their accounts.

Those users had logins with “my Social Security” and must transition to updated credentials with “Login.gov.”

The social security administration said they are changing the way people access their online services to “align with federal authentication standards” and make sure online sign-ins remain secure.

Anyone who believes they may be impacted is encouraged to attempt to log into their online account. If you need new credentials, you will be presented with an option to make the changeover which must be completed before further actions can be made.
