S.C. Department Of Education Considers Ban On Cell Phones In Schools
If the policy is approved, all S.C. schools will be required to implement the restrictions or total ban by January.
South Carolina could be joining a growing list of states that are placing bans on certain electronics in schools.
The S.C. Department of Education will soon draft a policy barring the use of cell phones and other personal electrictronics.
The ban is connected to a provision that must happen if the school districts plan to receive state funding.
10,000 teachers participated in a survey. Results revealed 83% of high school teachers think phones distract students daily in classrooms.
The survey also found 92% support a policy limiting phone access and 55% supported a full ban during the school day.
If the policy is approved, all S.C. schools will be required to implement the restrictions or total ban by January.
