FDA And FTC Issue Warnings To Companies Over Copycat Snacks Containing THC

The FDA has given the companies 15 working days to submit written responses detailing how they will address the violations and prevent future ones.

The FDA and FTC issued warnings to five companies Tuesday over concerns of copycat snacks.

The warnings are part of a joint effort for the agencies attempting to crack down on illegal sales of copycat food products that contain Delta THC.

The packaging for the THC edibles appear extremely similar to that of popular foods such as Chips Ahoy cookies and Flaming Hot Cheetos.

The FDA said it is concerned that these products can be easily mistaken for traditional foods, leading to accidental ingestion or over-consumption. Concerns over the products being easily available to children were also expressed.

The FDA has given the companies 15 working days to submit written responses detailing how they will address the violations and prevent future ones.

If the violations are not promptly addressed, the agency may take legal action.
