Biden Considers Proposal Regarding Term Limits For SCOTUS Justices

The Supreme Court has not yet commented on the proposals which are in response to growing outrage over high court opinions.

President Biden is considering proposals to establish term limits for U.S. Supreme Court justices.

Biden is also considering an ethics code that would be enforceable under law amid growing concerns that the justices are not held accountable.

Any changes would require congressional approval, which would be difficult in a divided Congress.

The proposal marks a shift in change for Biden who is the former head of the Senate Judiciary Committee and has long resisted calls to reform the high court.

The president is also considering calling for a constitutional amendment that would eliminate the broad immunity for presidents granted by the court in its most recent term. This comes after Trump claimed he was immune from prosecution for his actions during the Jan. 6 Capitol Riot.
