Horry Co. Property Owners Advised To Keep Eye Out For Reassessment Notices

Property owners in Horry County will soon receive reassessment notices in their mailboxes.
Over 250,000 notices have been sent out as part of the county’s routine reassessment process that occurs every five years.
Though property values in Horry County have increased due to growth over the years, it reportedly does not lead to higher taxes.
It was said when property values rise, the county adjusts the millage rate to prevent an increase in total tax revenue.
County council members plan to finalize the new millage during the next meeting.
If you receive a reassessment notice, keep in mind it is not a bill but simply a notification to review the new property values.
If you believe your property assessment is too high, you can file an appeal within 90 days of receiving your reassessment notice.
