AT&T Customers Impacted By Massive Data Breach

Millions of AT&T customers and many non-AT&T customers were impacted by a massive data breach.
The carrier says call and text message records were breached but the hacked data did not include the content of those collected. The compromised data includes the phone numbers of “nearly all” of it’s cellular customers and customers of wireless providers that used its network between May and October of 2022.
The breach also included landline customers who interacted with those cell numbers.
Customers names were not exposed in this incident. However, the company acknowledged names can often be linked to specific phone numbers. It was said the exposed data is not believed to be publicly accessible at this time.
AT&T blamed an “illegal download” on a third-party cloud platform that it discovered in April. The company promised to notify current and former customers whose information was involved and provide them resources to protect their information.
