Hurricane Beryl Impacted Texans Leaving Many Without Power

Hurricane Beryl tore through parts of Texas as a Category 1 storm and had a major impact on residents.

Nearly two million homes and businesses remain without power and air conditioning amid an extreme heat wave. Phone and internet access has also been cut off in several communities.

Cooling centers have opened across the region as temperatures reach into the 90s and heat indices are recorded at 105 degrees in some areas.

Beryl claimed the lives of at least 10 people in Texas and Louisiana, mainly from downed trees. However, two deaths were the result of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Texas officials are warning people about the dangers of using generators in areas where families are living and sleeping.
