On June 13, 66-year-old Sandra Schultz-Peters was hit by the full-sized vehicle near the Nash Street Beach Access.

Family members of the beach-goer that was fatally struck by an Horry County patrol vehicle are suing the Horry County Police Department.

Around 1pm on June 13, 66-year-old Sandra Schultz-Peters was hit by the full-sized vehicle near the Nash Street Beach Access. She was taken to a hospital where she later died.

Julian Brown, the county’s beach director, was identified as the driver of the truck.

Brown is named several times in the 12-page wrongful death suit. It claims Peters’ death was the result of negligence and lax supervision.

HCPD has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
