Portuguese Man O’ Wars Spotted Along The Grand Strand
If you come across one, you are urged to avoid coming in contact with them.
An increasing number of Portuguese Man o’ Wars have been spotted along the Grand Strand.
The animals have similar features to jellyfish, but are actually four separate organisms working together to produce a toxic sting.
Their tentacles can range up to 100-feet long and shoot out toxic harpoons to predators that can cause a mid to severe allergic reaction in humans.
You can spot the animals by their bright blue spiraling body above the water.
