North Carolina Introduces New Licenses And IDs For Residents

The new cards will have over 50 security features aimed at assisting law enforcement in detecting fraud.

North Carolina DMVs made an announcement.

The state is switching to new driver licenses, permits, and identification cards.

The new cards will have over 50 security features aimed at assisting law enforcement in detecting fraud.

The design will be personalized using laser engraving technology. It will also be 100% polycarbonate that feels stiffer. Therefor, if the card is dropped, it will make a unique metallic sound.

The new design will feature the Dogwood, which is the state flower, the state flag, state border outline, a marbled salamander and a lighthouse on the front of the card. The back will feature a Colonial Spanish mustang grazing along a beach.

The current design is set to be discontinued by the end of June, but current licenses and ID cards will remain valid until their expiration date.
