Mattel To Release New Barbies Based On Nine Female Athletes World Wide

Mattel is creating nine new barbies that will represent female athletes from all over the world.
The major toy company announced the plans Wednesday, saying it is part of its continued celebration of Barbie’s 65th anniversary that recognizes “the impact of sports in fostering self-confidence, ambition, and empowerment among the next generation.”
Among the female athletes to get their own doll is tennis star Venus Williams. She will be the only athlete to represent the U.S. among the nine selected.
The 43-year-old has won seven Grand Slam singles titles, five Wimbledon titles, and four Olympic gold medals.
