Two Charged After 13-Year-Old Boy Was Beaten To Death
Staff members of Isaiah Gaymes' previous school raised money for funeral costs and a scholarship fund was created in his name.
A community is mourning the death of a 13-year-old boy.
Two weeks ago, Isaiah Gaymes of Longs, died at MUSC after being beaten to death with a piece of wood and a handgun. He suffered multiple blunt force injuries to the head. He also suffered several other injuries including broken bones, burns and “permanent disfigurement to the face and body.”
Ivy Jenerette, 40, now faces a murder charge after initially being charged with abuse. Isaiah’s mother, Samantha Gaymes, 34, has been charged with “unlawfully placing a child at risk of harm” after allegedly allowing a pattern of physical abuse toward him.
Jenerette remains in custody without bail at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Meanwhile Samantha remains behind bars pending an initial court appearance.
