CPSC Issues Recall On Stove Due To Possible Fire Hazard
The stoves were sold at Sears and independent appliance stores nationwide from June of 2001 to August of 2009.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall for a kitchen appliance.
The recall covers the Frigidaire and Kenmore Smooth-Top Freestanding Electric Ranges.
Depending on the model, the stove can turn on randomly without being switched on. It can also fail to turn off or heat to a different temperature than selected.
The issue poses possible fire and burn hazards. There have been over 200 reports of the product behaving erratically, including 14 reports of fires and eight reports of injuries.
