House Passes Bill To Reverse Biden’s Pause Of Weapon Shipments To Israel

The House approved the bill in a 224-187 vote. Sixteen Democrats supported it while only three opposed.

The House passed a bill Thursday that would restrict President Biden from withholding weapon shipments to Israel.

The president previously halted the shipment of some 3,500 heavy bombs to Israel. The move attempted to demonstrate how the U.S. opposes a ground offensive in Rafah as Israeli forces continue to move forward with the plan.

Republicans accused the administration of turning its back on its ally amid a time of need.

The ‘Israel Security Assistance Support Act’ would prevent federal funds from being used to withhold defense services or weapons to Israel.

The House approved the bill in a 224-187 vote. Sixteen Democrats supported it while only three opposed.

The measure is not expected to pass through the Senate. However, the White House emphasized its opposition to the bill, arguing that it would “undermine the president’s ability to execute an effective foreign policy.” It also confirmed the president would veto the measure if it reached his desk.
