Woman Arrested After Allegedly Fatally Shooting Her Husband

Laura's warrant allege that "after having a verbal dispute pertaining to finances" she "did shoot the victim with a revolver two times in the torso."

A Loris woman was arrested after allegedly fatally shooting her husband.

Around 9pm Sunday, Horry County officers responded to a home on Long Meadow Dr. on reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, Laura Smith was located at the back of the house and detained. It was revealed she called authorities to report she had shot her husband and was going to be waiting outside for law enforcement.

Laura then informed officers that 64-year-old Michael Smith was in the bedroom. He was found lying on his back with a single gunshot wound to the upper right chest area.

Laura’s warrant allege that “after having a verbal dispute pertaining to finances” she “did shoot the victim with a revolver two times in the torso.” She is charged with murder.
