Areas In Texas Are Experiencing “Life-Threatening” Flooding
The state continues working with emergency management and local officials to deploy additional resources needed to provide ongoing support and to ensure residents are safe.
Parts of Texas are being pummeled by heavy rain which has prompted major flooding in some areas.
A flood watch is in effect in southeastern Texas as up to 8-inches of rain has already fallen in some parts of the region. The Houston area alone is facing “life-threatening” flood conditions and additional rounds of rain are expected to continue.
Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration for 59 counties to ensure Texans and their communities receive assistance. Residents are also being impacted by power outages amid the severe weather. Over 20,000 Houston-area customers were without power as of Thursday.
Residents are urged to follow the guidance of state and local officials and avoid traveling in dangerous flood conditions.
