May 1 marks the day some seasonal rules begin in Myrtle Beach city limits.

Dogs are only allowed on the beach before 10am and after 5pm until September 2. All dogs must be on a leash seven feet or shorter at all times and owners must pick up and properly dispose of any waste.

Also starting May 1, dogs are only allowed on the boardwalk from 5-10am and that same rule applies to bicycles.

In addition, starting May 27 through September 2, only circular umbrellas, up to seven-and-a-half-feet in diameter are allowed on the beach. They must also be set up behind the lifeguards’ line of umbrellas.
