ByteDance Says It Has No Intentions Of Selling TikTok
A new bill was signed into law this week that would require ByteDance either to sell the social media network or face a nationwide ban.
TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance has publicly commented on the new threat to ban the app in the U.S..
A new bill was signed into law this week that would require ByteDance either to sell the social media network or face a nationwide ban. It gives TikTok’s owner 9-months to divest with potential for an additional 3-month grace period.
However, ByteDance says it has no intention of selling the business. It has already been said TikTok plans to challenge in court the “unconstitutional” law arguing the first amendment.
The statement from ByteDance came in response to an article by the technology industry website which said it was exploring the potential sale of TikTok’s operation in the U.S. without the algorithm that powers it.
