Unusual Amount Of Rainfall In Dubai Prompts Flash Flooding

Many flights were delayed and diverted as the airport advised people to not come unless absolutely necessary.

A year’s worth of rain fell across Dubai Tuesday resulting in flash flooding.

Dubai has a hot and dry climate. However, nearly four inches of rain fell over the course of just 12-hours. That amount is around what the country usually records in an entire year.

The rain fell so heavily and quickly that some drivers were forced to abandon their vehicles as the floodwater rose and roads turned into rivers.

Many flights were delayed and diverted as the airport advised people to not come unless absolutely necessary.

Residents were advised to stay indoors and refrain from traveling.

Rain is expected to slow down in the region, but a few showers may linger before dry weather returns.
