North Myrtle Beach Leaders Discuss Increasing Property Tax Rate
The increased rates would be part of next year's nearly $200 million proposed budget.
North Myrtle Beach leaders are considering an increase for property tax in the area.
The current property tax rate in the city is 45 mils. The proposal would increase it to 48 mils.
The city council said the change is driven by the need for additional public safety officers and increased need for firefighting equipment.
The increased rates would be part of next year’s nearly $200 million proposed budget.
The council is set to vote on the proposed budget in June. If approved, it will go into effect July 1.
