Tax Day Reminder
Even if you secure an extension to file, most people are still required to pay whatever they owe the IRS by midnight on the April deadline.
A reminder that April 15 is Tax Day.
Most Americans must file their 2023 taxes by 11:59pm Monday. If you owe money to the IRS you must pay what you owe before midnight.
If you file late and you still owe money, you will be hit with a failure-to-file penalty plus interest on your outstanding balance.
You can request an automatic six-month extension, which would push your filing deadline to October 15. However, even if you secure an extension to file, most people are still required to pay whatever they owe the IRS by midnight on the April deadline.
There are options to work out a payment plan with the IRS to reduce your penalties and interest.
