Man Accused Of Shooting Robeson Co. Deputies Faces Federal Charges

Shawn Locklear Jr. was out of jail on bond for murder and armed robbery charges.

A man accused of shooting Robeson County deputies now faces federal charges.

The incident occurred on November 7.

Shawn Locklear Jr. was out of jail on bond for murder and armed robbery charges.

The suspect allegedly took off his ankle monitor and officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on him when he opened fire.

During the incident, Locklear also attempted to steal a patrol car in which he ran over one of the deputies legs.

Along with several state charges he faces in the incident, he also faces federal charges of drug trafficking, possession of a machine gun, as well as carjacking with intent to cause serious bodily injury.

If convicted, Locklear faces a minimum of 40 years and a maximum of life in prison.
