Federal Government Grants $60 Million To Assist In Bridge Collapse Clean Up
President Biden said that he intends to push the federal government to pay for the entire reconstruction of the bridge and provide as much support as possible.
Maryland is receiving funding from the federal government to assist with cleaning debris from the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse.
$60 million in emergency relief funding will be used for mobilization, operations and debris recovery.
Officials said the first priority is to remove the debris from the river. The Army Corps of Engineers will assist in order for shipping lanes to reopen.
The Baltimore district of the Army Corps of Engineers activated its emergency operations center, which clears the way for more than 1,100 engineering, construction, contracting and operations specialists to provide support to local, state and federal agencies.
