One Man Detained After Attempted Armed Robbery Of Grocery Store

A suspect allegedly attempted to shoplift $80 worth of food items.

One person has been detained in connection to an attempted armed robbery incident in Georgetown County.

Around 8:40pm Wednesday night, police were called to the Piggly Wiggly located along Highmarket Street.

55-year-old Jihad Nicklson allegedly attempted to shoplift $80 worth of food items. He was then confronted by staff which prompted him to pull out a knife.

Nicklson then fled the store. He was later found and arrested.

It is unclear what charges he is facing but he is detained awaiting a bond hearing.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
