Israel Agrees To U.S. Prisoner-Hostage Exchange Proposal
An israeli official said the country is ready to make "significant compromises in order to return the abductees home."
Israel has agreed to a U.S. proposal on a prisoner-hostage exchange.
The proposal would release nearly 700 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of 40 Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
An israeli official said the country is ready to make “significant compromises in order to return the abductees home.”
The exchange is also expected to include some American hostages.
Hamas’ response could take one to three days.
An agreement, if it happens, is expected to have multiple phases. In the first stage, Hamas has proposed releasing the hostages who are women, elderly, sick and wounded. That number is believed to be roughly 40 out of the around 100 who remain alive.
