Mexico Warns U.S. Of “Tension” If Texas Immigration Law Takes Effect

Mexico is warning a federal U.S. court of possible tensions if a certain law takes effect.
Senate Bill 4 was signed into law by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
The legislation gives state law enforcement permission to detain anyone they think entered the country illegally. The immigrant would then be given the choice to leave the country or spend time in jail.
Senate Bill 4 has been placed on hold twice now as discussions are being held.
Mexico warned the U.S., if the law takes effect, the two nations would experience “substantial tension” that would have far-reaching consequences for U.S.-Mexico relations.
It was said, “Enforcement of SB4 would interfere with Mexico’s right to determine its own policies regarding entry into its territory, undermine U.S.-Mexico collaboration on a legal migration framework and border management, and hinder U.S.-Mexico trade.”
