Lawmakers Propose Bill That Would Guarantee U.S. Workers Paid Time Off
The bill has 40 co-sponsors so far, but the House is still working to build support for the measure.
Democratic lawmakers proposed new legislation Wednesday.
The ‘Protect Time Off Act’ would guarantee paid time off per year for U.S. workers. It would give paid vacation to nearly 27 million Americans who currently are not offered PTO.
The bill would mandate employers provide one hour of paid annual leave for every 25 hours worked.
Rep. Seth Magaziner said the vacation with pay would not be a hand-out, but something that people have worked for.
