Florence Paramedic’s Death Being Investigated As Homicide

An autopsy revealed Phonesia Machado-Fore's cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. 

A Marion man has been arrested in connection to two separate murder cases.

32-year-old Jaremy Smith was detained on Sunday after being shot by deputies in New Mexico. He was wanted by police in S.C. as a person of interest in the death of a Pee Dee woman.

52-year-old Phonesia Machado-Fore was reported missing last week, her body was discovered on Friday in Lake View. An autopsy revealed her cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.

Machado-Fore’s BMW was involved in the murder of New Mexico State Police Officer, Justin Hare, who was shot and killed on Friday.

Smith was struck multiple times before being detained. He is now under guard at a hospital as he recovers before answering for charges including first degree murder.

An investigation is still underway.
