S.C. Senate Passes Constitutional Carry Bill

In their agreement, the bill would allow adults 18 and older to carry loaded handguns openly without a permit or training.

The S.C. Senate approved a bill regarding state gun laws Wednesday.

A revised version of the Constitutional Carry Bill passed the Senate in a 28-18 vote.

The House previously revised the bill and passed it in a 86-33 vote.

In their agreement, the bill would allow adults 18 and older to carry loaded handguns openly without a permit or training.

Guns would still be banned in the same places they are now with the addition of bars.

One thing to note is the bill does not significantly alter the current laws for CWP laid out under the Open Carry with Training Act and the Law Abiding Citizens Self-Defense Act.

The legislation is now heading to Gov. McMaster’s desk where he already said he will sign it into law.
