SpaceX Launches Designated Crew 8 Mission

Designated Crew 8 marks the eighth long-duration ISS team that NASA has flown aboard a SpaceX launched vehicle.

SpaceX launched the Designated Crew 8 mission Sunday night.

The two-stage Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Florida and is carrying a crew of three U.S. astronauts and a Russian cosmonaut.

The four crew members are heading to the International Space Station to begin a six-month science mission in Earth’s orbit.

The crew members are scheduled to reach the space station early Tuesday morning, docking with the orbital laboratory located nearly 240 miles above Earth.

Designated Crew 8 marks the eighth long-duration ISS team that NASA has flown aboard a SpaceX launched vehicle.

The crew is expected to perform around 250 experiments during their time.
